The Bridge Church Family (Updated 5/10)
Our campus services resume in May - please read entire statement
We are aware of all the news that is going on in our nation and world relating to the Coronavirus (Covid-19). The response to the crisis has been far reaching in nations across the world and in America. We see a huge swell of response to try and flatten the “curve” of the virus. The whole point of this was to make sure hospitals were not overrun. This has been successful and in our nation and certainly here in Tucson the hospitals have been more than prepared
As you are probably aware that our Governor had issued a temporary stay at home executive order that encouraged people to stay at home except for essential operations. That executive order specially indicated that religious activities were essential and were exempt from this. Also, such meetings could continue but it was encouraged appropriate social distancing. Nonetheless for the past 6 weeks The Bridge along with many other sectors in town voluntarily temporarily suspended services on campus. That was a choice we made and was not a mandate by the Governor.
During this time the staff at The Bridge has been paying attention to all of this closely. We have prayed, met, discussed, and researched this topic. We are very fortunate to have an M.D. on staff in BCC East’s Pastor Dr. Andy. He has been able to discuss this with many doctors and hospital staff. There are many opinions and numbers out there to look at. At this point in Pima County many experts are saying that we are past any peak in the infections and thus far our health care system has been more than able to handle things and so far the impact has been less extensive than originally predicted. As such we are all optimistic that things may be winding down soon.
Ultimately we as a staff, as Christians, need to look at what God says.
Romans 13:1 - Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
While not law, our governing authorities across the board are asking for our help for the good of the country and its people. This was short term. They have not asked us to suspend church for multiple months or a year. If that happened, we would then be running into a potential “Daniel” situation where the law went against God’s principles.
So, with that in mind, The Bridge did not have weekend services, teens, and small groups that meet on campus from March 16 through April 30th. As we continued to monitor the situation and reevaluate; we came to the conclusion that as of May 1st we would be reopening campus with social distancing. Normal service times will commence at each campus while we are still live on YouTube at specific times.
We have been offering a teaching through video online on YouTube. We had provided a link through our social media pages each weekend. We will also put up other shorts and clips throughout the week. We will also start doing our ExL study live Wednesday nights, also from our YouTube page. (Click Here For Page & Subscribe) ***As of May 16 all services will be on-campuses only. If you are our of state or not able to be at a campus, please let us know so we can work with you and get you the teachings.***
Our Teen Program also did a lot online and a lot of different live activities and lessons for teens. (Click Here For Page & Subscribe). Now that services are back on campus the teens program will be as well.
We ask that you pray for our leaders in our nation. (I Timothy 2) We ask that you pray that wisdom is used when making decisions and not fear. Pray for our nation’s people. That through this difficult time they will see the need for a relationship with Christ.
Lastly, the staff at BCC wants to say thank you to all our people. We know how much you love our church and that this was a hard time for many of you and for many continues to be. We know it was for us. Thank you for your continued support and prayers and we look forward to all coming together the first weekend of May!
